Danielle Gabriella Ashton is a junior music education major from Alexandria,
VA. She is a trumpet and piano minor. Danielle’s love for music started from an early age when she was
handed a cornet at her church, The Salvation Army. Through her church, she learned to play
the cornet and piano and gained singing experience through her church songsters as well. Her love for music also enhanced
during her high school years at T.C. Williams.
At Howard University, she is currently in The Howard
University Concert Band, Howard University Showtime Marching Band, Howard University Jazz Ensemble (HUJE), and The Howard University Brass Choir. She is also in three other ensembles at church.
For the past few summers she taught cornet and piano at her church’s music conservatory camp in Richardsville, VA. She also has had
the pleasure of traveling to California to participate in the Rose Bowl parade, traveling to Bermuda with the Showtime Marching Band, and traveling to Japan with HUJE.
In addition to Sigma
Alpha Iota and the many ensembles she in, Danielle is also a member of the Golden
Key International Honour Society, and the Virginia Club. After Graduation,
she plans to teach music either in a public school system or through her church.
Danielle decided to choose membership in the Delta Nu Chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity for
Women in the Spring Semester of 2009.
